Deelkast – Deelfabriek
A modern kiosk and management platform for Deelfabriek Kortrijk. It consists of a Next.js frontend, a .NET 9 backend API, and a Python service for locker and system integrations. Everything is orchestrated with Docker Compose and exposed via a Cloudflare Tunnel. Reserve from home via deelkast.deelfabriek.be and handle on-site flows at deelkast.deelfabriek.be/kiosk.

Project Overview
The Deelkast platform is a modern kiosk & management system for Deelfabriek Kortrijk. The program is fully in Dutch to improve accessibility for non-native speakers and people with limited means. Rentable items are available at a low price. Users can make a reservation online or on-site, then pick up their product at the kiosk, which is controlled by hardware and opens the lockers once the Payconiq payment is completed — this always happens on-site. Flows include pickup, locker opening, and returns, with friendly thank-you views, plus a rich admin dashboard for daily operations.
Technical Implementation
Frontend: Next.js 15 (React 19) with a mobile-first App Router UI, Tailwind CSS 4 and PostCSS.
Backend: ASP.NET Core 9 minimal API using EF Core (Pomelo MySQL), Identity (cookie auth), FluentValidation, AutoMapper, and MailKit for transactional emails.
Python service: FastAPI + Uvicorn with Paramiko for hardware locker/system control (SSH/telnet-like).
Infrastructure: containerized via Docker Compose with persistent volumes and external access via Cloudflare Tunnel.
Key Features
Discover & reservefrom home via the website, or reserve on-site at the kiosk. Receive a personal pickup code by email. At the kiosk, enter your code on the tablet and pay on-site with Payconiq; the system opens the correct locker automatically. Choose 1 or 2 weeks rental. Automated emails confirm pickup and remind you before return. To return, enter the same personal code, the locker opens, and you can leave a review or comment. An admin dashboard tracks products, lockers, reservations, opening hours, reports and settings.
Security & Architecture
Strong security headers (CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options). Cookie-based auth with Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=None. Restricted CORS and CSP allowlists (including Payconiq domains). Role-based admin areas with audit-friendly email notifications via MailKit. Clear separation of frontend, backend and integration services.
Target Audience
Designed for Deelfabriek staff, volunteers and citizens borrowing items at a low price. Optimized for non-native speakers and people with limited means through a fully Dutch UI and simple flows. Also used by city partners and community initiatives.
